Vanessa Hudgens: Zac is `adorable`
Vanessa Hudgens says Zac Efron was "a whole different person" when they first met.
The Hollywood stars were introduced on the set of 2006 movie High School Musical and have been together ever since. Zac`s portrayal of student Troy Bolton won him legions of young female fans, something Vanessa finds funny. Although her beau is renowned for his floppy brown hair and chiselled good looks, she insists he hasn`t always been that way.
"We got lucky because we started off together, so I think people like us because they fell in love with our characters ? Right off the bat, we had a connection," Vanessa told the August issue of Glamour magazine. "I think everybody could see it. When we had our audition, they paired us together. And he was adorable. I mean, he wasn?t the guy that he is today. Like, he had a gap in his teeth. He was a whole different person."
The 21-year-old also dismissed rumours she and Zac, 22, are planning to move in together. The star explained she bought a house she loves two years ago, and has no intention of leaving it in the near future.
Vanessa also opened up about her career aspirations. Although the High School Musical franchise is aimed at children, she admits she always thought she would star in more serious movies. She added she hopes to branch out now, and will definitely shoot films which are less child-friendly in the future.
"Before High School Musical, I wanted to be a nitty-gritty actress," she explained. "And High School Musical came along, and I was like, `Oh my God, fun!` But the more we did it, the more prudish I became.
"When I am around kids and they come up to me, of course I am going to act a certain way, but at the end of the day, I`m doing this for myself. I`m going to be doing movies kids can`t watch."
Vanessa even hinted she might be prepared to appear nude on screen in the future, although not for a while. She was rocked when private photos of her in a series of raunchy poses were leaked in 2007, and is still trying to get over the humiliation. "I think that it has made me stronger. But it still hurts. A lot of actresses do it [in movies]. Eventually, I`m sure that I will [too]. But I don`t know if I would be able to do it now," she said.
